I've just not been doing much in the way of pike fishing or any kind of fishing for a while but I'm getting the bug again.

just out of curiosity andy why do you lose the bug?, you have produced many very good articles and many constructive and helpful comments then you vanish for months?, do you just get sickened off for a bit?

I've been fishing for 26 years for one thing or another and sometimes I just need a break from it all. I also find that by going fishing just for the sake it, it becomes a chore, rather than a treat. I never go that long without wetting a line though. I've been promising to go lure fishing for about a fortnight now but this monsoon-like rain has interfered. The water I'm targeting is very elevated, there's no shelter and the wind/rain belts across it at 90mph, even in the Summer so it takes a little more than determination to fish it. It's a hard water at the best of times and it's only produced for me when it's relatively calm so I know myself, there's no point in punishing myself.
If and when I get up there, I'll give it my best shot, seeing as I've recharged my batteries. If I nail a fish or two, I'll let you know.
