Tench in 2008

Has anyone been fishing for Tench this year yet, and if so, successfully?
Roger

Tench are now moving on the Forth & Clyde canal. I had two last week at 2 1/2lb & 3lb. Had a report from another angler that he had 4 in one evening session the best at 6lb from near Twechar.

Good to know they are on the feed, what methods did you deploy and what bait did you find successful? Very Happy
Roger

I usualy fish a wagler with either bread paste or double maggot with a bread crumb based groundbait. Have had the better quality roach and rudd on bread baits in the summer with the occasional tench. Maggot gets more small roach and perch and eels on the bottom.
I would like some opinions on using a rake to clear weed and stir up the mud, my last tench was caught within 1 & 1/2 hours of the weed cutting machine moving through the swim it took an hour for the water to clear but the fish were obviously nosing around to see what grubs had been disturbed.
