tummelHi John
Sorry about late reply youve prob been now but ill tell u what i know
Loch tummel is best fished on the south side lots of good spots to get stopped but you have to get there early can be very busy in good weather with drunken campers, not really seen anywhere that looks that accessible on the north shore, i usually make the effort and drive that wee bit further up to loch rannoch. Some nice spots dotted along north and south shore on rannoch.
If you do go up to Rannoch you will pass a nice bit of water called dunalastair, unfortunately its a private trout water
Permits- Tummel never had to get permit for tummel there doesnt seem to be a warden on loch but it would prob be 4-6£.
Rannoch ive always had a permit at rannoch but you just get it of the warden when he comes round i think its £6 day or a year was about £50 i think.
The warden on Rannoch is cool he'll tell you about any recent catches and from where about,
Hope that helps you catch a monster

hi
thanks for the info.i gave the tummel ago but didnt have any luck on it.went down the south side and as you said, every layby was full of campers.
eventually found a spot to fish but it was no good for camping. As i was with my kid and promised him a night camping,i ended up at a campsite on the south shore of loch rannoch.it was only £6 a night which i think was good value and poped down to the pub in kinlochrannoch for a nightcap.
hopefully going to go back up again in a couple of weeks and give loch rannoch a bash with the flyrod
