loch awe trollingbefore i start id like to say hello to everyone , so , HELLO , anyway goin for cuple of days fishin on loch awe at end of the month and would like to try trolling , are there any methods or rigs for reaching required depths without the use of downriggers , ive been looking into trolling recently as having spent a few years fly fishing for trout i now feel duty-bound to go for a ferox , i do tend to shell out on some gear such as a downrigger and eventualy a half decent boat of my own , but in the meantime ....... can anyone suggest an alternative method ?

You could use a heavy lead weight on some cord to get the depth. Attach a spring type clothes peg to hold your line which will allow it to break free if a fish takes.
Hope that makes sense.

It certainly does work, I have used that method on Lomond when after Ferox Trout or Pike.
